Job Description

Are you passionate about delivering innovative and sustainable transport solutions Do you have the skills and experience to manage complex projects and programmes If so, I have an exciting opportunity for you!I am currently recruiting for a Project Manager on behalf of my client, a leading public sector organisation based in Huddersfield (HD1).The requirement is to increase high level technical support and project management to develop and progress my clients transport schemes. You will manage and provide technical transport planning advice for specific projects/programmes within the West YorkshireTransport Fund.Duties of the Project Manager will include:

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of transport planning projects and programmes, ensuring they meet the objectives, budget, and timescales of the client and stakeholders
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with internal and external partners, such as local authorities, consultants, contractors and funding bodies
  • Provide technical input and guidance on transport planning issues, such as development planning, major transport schemes, operational assessment
  • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and business cases
  • Manage and supervise staff and resources within the team
  • You will be expected to commission and oversee work packages, where it is desirable or necessary to externalise the work
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Key software applications you areexpected to have working knowledge and experience of are Transyt, Linsig, Vissim and Saturn.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Have extensive development planning experience (transport) and good technical skills which should include managing and providing technical input for major transport schemes
  • A detailed knowledge of the transport aspect of the planning system and an understanding of operational assessment software is also essential
  • Experience on Green Book assessment of schemes is also desirable
  • Understanding the technical requirements that comprise taking a transport scheme from ‘concept’ through feasibility design and modelling, programme entry and to outline business case
