Jark Bradford Ltd Technical & Engineering Division are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a temporary position for a Principle Engineer-Street Lighting pending our client’s permanent recruitment for this post in the Kirklees area HD1.The successful candidate should have substantial experience of working as a street lighting principle engineer and as a team leader in the street lighting field ideally in the local authority.Key information: The council manages a network of over 52,000 streetlights as well as signs and other street furniture across its network of streets and private roads. The priorities are:Managing the asset risks, delivering a significant capital LED programme, and providing a street lighting design and delivery service for developer/council schemes and a good quality/high performance service to our community.In conjunction with the principal engineer job profile the points below give more detail of what is expected of this street lighting principal engineer role.1. The role will primarily focus on responsibility for scheme development, design and project management to meet requirements of council programmes and developer requirements on new build estates, section 278 and section 106 schemes. 2. Bringing significant recent, proven knowledge and experience in street lighting to the role to provide technical expertise and advise including commenting on third party schemes and planning applications.3. Ensure that the risks associated with the street lighting scheme and programmes are effectively managed. 4. Manage and direct resources of those working on the project and liaising with the council’s in-house delivery team and external contractors to ensure that requirements are met.5. Manage customer, developer and councillor enquires on street lighting and in relation to schemes/ programmes ensuring a good quality and timely response and resolution to agreed standards is achieved.6. As a project manager ensure that the performance of those working on projects and programmes within your control eg. Council’s in-house delivery team, contractors, Northern Power Grid and others to ensure that agreed targets of performance are achieved including costs, resources and quality.
