Job Description

Role:This engineer role is a streetwork inspector in the network management and coordination team.As an Engineer (Inspections) you will:

  • Monitor and report on works on the highway by carrying out inspections under NRASWA, for which you will need the correct NRASWA Supervisor accreditation. This will include inspection of works, reinstatements and ironwork.
  • Ensure that all works promoters comply with the "Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways".
  • Record details of inspections carried out and maintain appropriate records to help ensure the recovery of relevant fees and charges, including NRASWA inspections, Section 74, Fixed Penalty Notices, and approvals for skips, scaffolding and hoarding.
  • Undertake permit compliance checks.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of works, events on the highway, and temporary highway obstructions, e.g. builders’ skips and scaffoldings/hoardings, are co-ordinated and comply with safety legislation.
  • Reply to enquiries, including service requests.
  • Provide support, assistance and information to the Co-ordination officers, and other staff, to ensure the provision of an effective and efficient service that meets agreed performance targets, and Service and objectives and priorities.
  • Be responsible for the wellbeing of yourself and others on a day to day basis.
  • Spend 25% of your time in the office and 75% at site meetings and doing inspections, for which you will need a full and valid driving licence, and a willingness to undertake and pass a driving test.
