The company has a detailed roadmap of technology and product development extending into the future and aggressive growth plans.The company prides itself on having a highly skilled technical workforce, with deep experience in the semiconductor, instrumentation, and advanced manufacturing sectors, and is now looking to recruit a mechanical engineer to join a highly professional team of mechanical engineers to continue andgrow their R&D team. Experience in the company’s target customer sectors of Aerospace, Medical, Defense, and Space could be advantageous.The mechanical engineer will be responsible for the delivery of all the mechanical systems of the product, a highly complex 3D metal printer with multiple specialised high-technology sub-systems. In addition the mechanical engineer will be involved in discussions with industrial design partners, customers and suppliers. A hands on approach is essential, the use of rapid prototyping, breadboarding designs, developing experimental test rigs and subsequent testing comes with the job.The work involves internal and external collaborators, internal and external stakeholders and teams of specialist engineers and scientists, and consequently competing requirements.The mechanical engineer will have the following skills/abilities:

  • Competent in the use of Solid Works, FEA, DFMEA, and used to working in regulated industries.
  • The ability to convert user requirements into detailed mechanical and system specifications.
  • The ability to take designs from concept to detailed drawings and the ability to fully specify parts through the use of BS8888
  • Theoretical understanding of mechanical engineering principles and the ability to apply first principles in order to validate ideas and designs
  • Experience in some of the following would be beneficial: high vacuum; high voltage; powder handling; electromagnetic design.
