Job Description

Interim PR Manager - Media Relations - Press Manager- Communications Manager up to 12 months contract-Public Sector - ASAP start - circa £34,000- approx. £40,000 (day rate)Hybrid with 1-2 days in the office (Huddersfield)Client DetailsA public sector organisation that supports the communityDescriptionAs a PR Manager you will manage the reputation of the organization and help to promote the work and partners through effective use of PR tactics to support corporate objectives and the corporate communications strategy.

  • You will also be involved in internal communications and driving key messages across the organization
  • You will work with the team on key corporate communication campaigns.
  • Utilise social media to support PR campaigns
  • Support the PR and Internal Communications Manager in developing public relations tactics and message to achieve corporate priorities.
  • Deal with reactive media enquiries in an efficient, timely and sensitive manner.
  • Arrange media briefings and interviews, both proactively and re-actively to communicate the work of the organisation
  • Identify, write and issue appropriately targeted positive news stories and features for internal and external communications. These will involve interviewing members of the public to research and develop news stories.
  • Build relationships and contacts with relevant local, regional, national and specialist media and partner organisations
  • Manage the media monitoring process, ensuring that coverage is analysed and informs future PR campaigns and helps the team to identify opportunities and improvements.
  • Handle the communications response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation
  • Support internal communications and work with key stakeholders
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums.
  • Ensure that internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
  • Utilise internal social media mediums to communicate with staff internally.
  • Draft messages or scripts for presentation to employees to be delivered in written or spoken form.
  • Assist in managing the reputation and build relationships with key journalists.
ProfileProfile of candidate As a PR and Media Manager you would have worked in a media relations / press function and have a broad communications skillset
  • In depth knowledge of a range of PR and social media tools and techniques
  • Evidence of generating innovative communications ideas and pursing them to deliver successful outcomes
  • Knowledge and experience if crisis management and the role of communications functions.
  • A proven track record of planning and delivering complex integrated campaigns to time and budget, delivering to objectives.
  • Outstanding written communication skills
  • Awareness of sensitivity to political issues and relationships
  • Ideally you will have a background in journalist and crisis communications
Job OfferCompetitive day rate circa 32k- approx 40k
  • This is a great opportunity to manage the reputation of the organisation
  • You will be required in Huddersfield 1-2 days per week
