Job Description

Grants Manager Location: Huddersfield, West YorkshireSalary: £25,000 - £27,000 P/AHours: (37.5 hours per week)Benefits:

  • 25 days of annual leave plus public holidays (pro rata).

Are you an experienced Grants Officer seeking to join a dynamic charity organisation in Huddersfield You will be at the heart of our operations, ensuring smooth administrative processes, and delivering exceptional customer service both internally and externally.We are working with a renowned independent charity, dedicated to supporting local communities and making a lasting impact. Their commitmentto excellence and inclusivity drives their mission to see Kirklees thrive.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and review the grant processes and procedures, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to raise awareness of funding opportunities available through the Foundation in the local voluntary and community sector. This includes presenting opportunities at events and collaborating with the Local Infrastructurebody.
  • Oversee the grants assessment process, including due diligence checks and providing guidance to the panel on applications for a portfolio of programs.
  • Implement monitoring and evaluation systems to inform grants panels and produce donor profiles and grant stories for internal and external use.
  • Coordinate with the Finance Director to track grant expenditure and ensure programs stay within agreed budgets.
  • Induct new grants panel members.
  • Manage the Grants Team, ensuring manageable workloads and providing support to team members.
  • Conduct appraisals and regular one-to-one meetings to guide Grants Team staff toward personal work targets.
  • Organise regular Grants team meetings to enhance communication and the effective operation of programs.
  • Operate with a focus on continuous improvement and suggest ideas to improve the organisations work and resource utilisation. Recommend new resources, hardware, and software as needed.
  • Represent the grants team at national grants meetings with membership body and provide feedback to the grants team and the CEO.
  • When successful, take responsibility for setting up and managing any new funding program secured, ensuring robust monitoring and evaluation. Set up web journeys for applications on Salesforce (Applications and Evaluations).
Key Requirements:
  • Prior experience in organising, coordinating, and managing projects is crucial.
  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully overseeing grant programs or similar initiatives.
  • An understanding of grant-making processes, including grant application assessment, due diligence, and evaluation, is preferred - Training can be provided for the right candidate.
  • Strong leadership skills are necessary to provide guidance, support, and mentorship to the team, ensuring their success and professional development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding budgeting and financial management related to grant programs is to track grant expenditures, ensure compliance with budgets, and report to the finance department.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to suggest and implement enhancements is highly desired.
  • The Senior Grants Officer will collaborate with various teams, including Marketing and the Local Infrastructure body.
  • Familiarity with grant management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office applications is beneficial. Experience with Salesforce for grant applications and evaluations is a plus.
  • The candidate must operate with the highest level of ethics and integrity, ensuring that grants are processed and evaluated against criteria fairly and transparently.

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the organisation effectively at national meetings.

  • A sense of individual and collective responsibility, coupled with the ability to take the role seriously, while maintaining a positive and approachable demeanour.
