Job Description

Talent-UK are recruiting for their client on a full time permanent basis for a Buying Assistant, the company are based on the outskirts of Huddersfield town centre close to the motorway networks.Duties - Purchasing -

  • Expedite all outstanding purchase orders in respect to required schedules, notifying the Buyer and relevant Project Manager where scheduled dates are at risk
  • Ensure all purchase orders are received and acknowledged by the relevant supplier and maintain accurate and up to date delivery dates within the ERP system
  • Develop proactive working relationships with suppliers to ensure deadlines are met
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on supplier performance levels against agreed delivery and quality targets
  • Manage the stock control system ensuring that the companys stock holding is adding value and correct stock levels are maintained
  • Work with the Buyer and all other departments to ensure capital project and aftermarket requirements are ordered and received ahead of required date for production as per project requirements
  • Work with the Buyer to manage consignment stock contracts throughout the business
  • Work with the Buyer to plan and procure flat packs for fabrication
  • Negotiate with suppliers to establish cost savings through supplier agreements, schedules, rebates, discounts etc.
Logistics
  • Ensure all despatch notes are correct and filed electronically along with the inventory lists
  • Liaise with the freight forwarder for shipping documents to be received in a timely manner and file electronically
  • Keep the shipping spreadsheet up to date for all capital equipment
Stock
  • Assist with stock take audits as part of the Support Services team
Skills required -
  • Working with suppliers
  • Working in a purchasing environment
  • Providing management information in appropriate formats
  • Computer literate - including stock control systems
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Organisational and prioritisation skills to work within prescribed timescales
  • Effective interpersonal skills to ensure good working relationships
  • Numeracy skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
