Job Description

Without requiring supervision, purchasing the right quality equipment, goods and subcontract services at the competitive prices while meeting budget by good negotiation within limited time scale.Client DetailsOur client is a long established heavy metal manufacturer in Huddersfield.What began as a small family run business has now grown to a highly successful manufacturer with almost 150 staff members.The Buyer role is due to a retirement within the company, and is an opportunity to bring knowledge and expertise into an exciting role that will involve end to end purchasing.Description

  • Without requiring supervision, purchasing the right quality equipment, goods and subcontract services at the competitive prices while meeting budget by good negotiation within limited time scale.
  • Track and monitor the supplier on time delivery, communicating within the supply chain.
  • Hold buyers accountable to schedule and maintain the supplier regular business reviews that are deemed value added.
  • Identifying potential suppliers domestically and globally, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them.
  • Domestic travel and some international travel may be required subject to business requirement.
  • Regular communication with Contracts, Design, Manufacturing, Sales & Service team for routine work and continuous improvement.
Profile
  • Working experience in heavy mechanical parts purchasing/sourcing or manufacturing, ideally involving casting, forging, fabrications or machining
  • Ideally 3 years or more working experience of purchasing small volume high value
  • mechanical or electrical parts.
  • Good at negotiating, networking and dealing with numbers.
  • Good quality and commercial awareness, preferably demonstrating cost saving achievement.
  • Experience of using any ERP systems on purchasing tasks.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer literate, i.e. be able to use MS Excel, and Outlook email.
  • Ideal but not essential - Experience of international travel.
  • Customer oriented including internal customers.
Job Offer
  • Salary £25-35K
  • 25 days holidays + bank holidays
  • Mon - Fri 8.30 - 4.30
  • 5% matched pension
