What its like to work here Marsden Moor is over 3300ha of moorland with many miles of footpaths taking you into a landscape steeped in history from pre-historic times to trans-Pennine transport routes.Designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Special Protection Area and Special Area of Conservation for ground nesting birds and blanket bog its clear that Marsden Moor is an important place for wildlife but also provides drinking water for thousands of people, helps to reduce flooding and stores huge amounts of carbon to help mitigate the impact of climate change. What youll be doing As the Area Ranger you will manage a small team of Rangers and an even bigger team of volunteers - following the lead from the Property’s Business Plan you will build and manage an effective and flexible work programme for you and your team. You will deliver and support your team in undertaking largescale moorland restoration conservation work, contributing towards HLS targets and our NFM and woodland creation ambition.You will play the key role in maintaining excellent standards of presentation, access and compliance maintenance. You will build and maintain strong professional relationships with colleagues, contractors, commoners and neighbouring land managers.Marsden Moor like many other countryside sites is experiencing unprecedent levels of recreational use and illegal activities. You will co-ordinate your team of rangers and volunteers to help manage this level of use and provide onsite advice and education. Maintaining our relationships with the fire serve and local police will be essential.You will support our Land, Outdoors and Nature Marketing and Communications Officer to bring our conservation work to a wide range of audiences via social media, radio and TV. You will appreciate the need for our countryside sites to bring in income, so your business ideas will play an important part in the team’s success including supporting our plant and Christmas tree sales.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert.
