Job Description

Breakdown Coordinator (Commercial Vehicle Hire)c£23,000.00 to £24,500.00 per annum(Negotiable depending on experience)Monday to Friday - 7:00 am - 4:00 pm and 1 in 4 Saturday mornings 8:00 am to 12:00 pmCompany Overview:Our client, based in Barnsley is a well-established company, that have been in operation almost 65 years and are specialists in commercial vehicle rental. Their customers vary from both trade and retail and they have 6 rental depots, with fully equippedmaintenance workshops in the North and South of England; from these depots they operate approximately 2000 vehicles (of which 900 are above 3.5 tons).Job Purpose:The role of Breakdown Controller will report directly to the Workshop Manager at the Barnsley Depot, in South Yorkshire. You will be required to efficiently and effectively manage the day to day logistics of breakdowns and planned maintenance of the largefleet of commercial vehicles. You will operate an effective system of work in line with the companys policies and procedures, this will include administration, communication and relationship building with internal and external bodies in order to minimisethe off road or off hire time and therefore maximising on the number of vehicles that are roadworthy and ready to hire.Experience Required:Ideally 1 year within the motor industry in a similar role such as: Transport Coordinator, Breakdown Controller, Fleet Controller, Workshop Administrator, Service AdministratorEmployee Information and Benefits:

  • Monthly pay and 30 minutes lunch break
  • 20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, holidays will increase by an additional day with every 2 years of service, up to a maximum of 25 days
  • Annual pay reviews & discretionary annual company bonus - based on profit-share of between £500 & £2500
  • Contributory pension scheme effective immediately
  • Death in Service pay-out: two times annual salary

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Taking incoming calls and taking breakdowns or passing calls to relevant staff or to other depots
  • Creating job cards and managing the out-of-hours breakdowns on the fleet support system (R2C)
  • Recording jobs on Excel to monitor and record the breakdown, supplier and fleet support admin- charge log
  • Creating order numbers for the agents from the out of hours jobs
  • Passing breakdowns as soon as possible to limit customer downtime
  • Chasing jobs to completion, informing relevant drivers/customers and other depots when completed
  • Escalating jobs that need management intervention
  • Going through runners - scanning and uploading paperwork, sending paperwork to customers
