Job Description

Are you looking for a varied senior category management /buying/ procurement role Are you looking for a role where you can manage/ develop a team in order to deliver the best internal procurement service Are you looking for looking for a flexible workingenvironment If so, then it would be worth reading on..Our client offers an agile working pattern (50% office/ 50% working from home). When working from the office, you can be based at anyone of the clients locations, which are located near various cities including London/ Manchester. All have parking and canbe also easily accessible by public transport. The role will involve travel to various locations in the UK, in order to build string and lasting relationships with suppliers / stakeholders within the business and your teamThe client; is an established UK based food manufacturer / supplier. The role is a key role in the companys senior leadership team and responsible for the strategic sourcing / category management. Working across a number of food categories and reportingto the Head of Procurement, this is a senior category management role and your duties would include;

  • Management and development of a food category buying team
  • Delivery of the overall procurement category strategy.
  • Manage and enhance procurement practices in sourcing and supplier management
  • Using eSourcing platforms/ systems with reference to tenders, contract and supplier information
  • Negotiation of products/ categories and services contracts (price/terms/conditions) in order to agree and mutually beneficial working relationship
  • Develop and manage the procurement category strategies to meet the changing needs of the business
  • Review of supplier performance and supplier management
  • Support menu development
  • Occasional travel to visit key suppliers
The ideal candidate will ideally have experience of;
  • Proven lead negotiating skills with the ability to adopt a collaborative approach to supplier relationships.
  • Food Buying/ category management experience gained across a variety of foodservice, manufacturing and food production categories - ideal
  • CIPS qualification or relevant industry experience - ideal
  • Experience in managing complex supplier and organisational relationships
  • Staff Management experience
  • Ability to build relationships /influence decision makers
