Job Description

Are you looking for a new role Do you have an interest in Law Would you like to join a friendly and progressive team If so Keoghs are looking to recruit a Paralegal into the Cost team in the Bolton office.The role of a paralegal is to undertake a variety of data gathering, information recording and scheduling activities, on behalf of a File Handler, to facilitate the rapid settlement of cases and the closure of files.Key Accountabilities

  • Update VF with file allocations, diary records, court applications and general activity to ensure accurate recording of activity and allow progress tracking.
  • Follow up on outstanding instructions, documents and other actions to ensure that responses are received within required timescales.
  • Make payment requests using the appropriate payment request process for the client and chase to ensure payments are received and dispatched within required deadlines
  • Diarising
  • Undertake additional ad hoc duties to support File Handler and the team as required, which may include:
  • File closure/transfer activities
  • Completion of management information
  • To ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct 2011
  • Essential Skills and Attributes:
  • Experience of working in a legal environment is desirable
  • Good communication skills and experience of negotiating with and influencing 3rd parties to obtain information
  • Demonstrable experience of ;
  • Following a semi-prescribed programme of work
  • Dealing with calls and enquiries from customers, suppliers and/or the public
  • Gathering and recording information
  • Ability to work under own initiative, prioritising and organising own workload
  • IT Literate;
  • Proficient in MS Office (notably Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Experience of using a Claims/Case Management system
  • Proficient in the use of alpha numerical filing systems
  • GCSE grade A-C in Maths and English or equivalent
