Job Description

Butler Rose is delighted to be working with a Manufacturing business in the Honiton area who have a current requirement for a Quality Engineer. Duties are wide ranging in scope, but the role will ultimately hold responsibility for ensuring quality standardsare maintained at the correct levels for production.This is an excellent opportunity to work in a growing business where no two days are the same.Duties include:

  • Oversee enhancements in Quality aligned with ISO9001 standards
  • Conduct Vendor Audits, document reports, and drive improvements
  • Aid Purchasing in implementing Quality Standards from Customer Contracts throughout the supply chain (e.g., AQAP knowledge transfer and adherence).
  • Ensure timely resolution of Corrective Actions for DMRs (Discrepant Material Reports).
  • Guarantee approval of new parts via First Article Inspection / ISIR.
  • Handle Concessions and Deviations utilising internal systems.
  • Provide feedback on product tolerance, Vendor machinery, process capability, and cost exposure to the Engineering team.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure timely release of prototype/pre-production material for New Product/Part development, emphasising time, quality, and cost.
  • Support and enhance Goods Inwards Inspection capabilities through training initiatives.
  • Manage updates and version control of the Supplier Quality Manual.
  • Supervise ERP Item Data inspection requirements, where applicable (Exact Quality Management module).
  • Ensure all received goods from suppliers align with purchase orders.
  • Apply geometric dimensioning, tolerance information from technical drawings, and utilise relevant measuring equipment effectively.
  • Verify, label, and transfer received goods to appropriate locations, recording Batch/Serial and shelf life information in the system.
  • Collaborate with the Quality control department for clarification on conformity matters.
  • Verify and archive correct Quality documentation accompanying deliveries, including ISIRs, FAIRs, Material Certificates, and Certificates of Conformity.
  • Communicate quantity/quality issues resulting in DMRs to Purchasing and Accounts.
  • Manage defected items, handle scrap requests, and control stock within the quarantine area.
  • Conduct internal and external investigations on defective parts.
Experience required:
  • Working knowledge of technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of typical manufacturing processes e.g. welding, assembly & finishing.
  • Good Communication skills (Verbal & written) at all levels including suppliers & customers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • 2+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role.
  • Good understanding of quality tools and techniques (8D,ISHIKAWA, 5 WHY, DMAIC, KAIZAN
  • Ability to read and apply requirements of ISO and any other relevant standards.
Package:
  • Salary up to £40,000
  • Monday to Friday role
  • Benefits package including enhanced pension and bonus (performance related)
