We have multiple opportunities to join us in a fixed term role as Sample Management and Portering Assistant.In the first instance this position is fixed term until end of March 2022, however potential for this to be extended beyond this date.About the role:Your main duties will be the physical handling of boxes. There will be some limited working in refrigeration facilities units.This opportunity has arisen to support our work as a member of the COG-UK Consortium.The Consortium is responsible for delivering large-scale and rapid whole-genome virus sequencing to local NHS centres and the UK government. The resulting virus genome data is combined with clinical and epidemiological datasets in order to help to guide UK public health interventions and policies.As part of this project, we handle millions of samples that require transportation between campus buildings and management within dedicated cold storage facilities, in accordance with policies and procedures. The team will be responsible for ensuring that the departments requiring access to the samples are provided with a timely, efficient and effective sample portering service to optimise processing times and storage. The team will also be required to implement the destruction policy.Working Pattern:Saturday to WednesdayWorking hours: 8am to 4pm weekdays and 8am to 3pm weekends (37 hours total) Essential Skills
