We are looking to recruit a QA Automation Engineer to join the Literature Services Team at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) located on the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus near Cambridge in the UK. EMBL-EBI is part of the European MolecularBiology Laboratory (EMBL).Our team develops and maintains EuropePMC ([https://](https://)) - a repository of 6.5 million full-text biomedical research articles, supplemented with ~38 million abstracts, database links and citation information which is supportedby 30 international biomedical funders.This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to an ambitious open science project that aims to become the literature resource of choice for life science and biomedical researchers worldwide.You will be working togetherwith the rest of the team (Developers, QA, UX, Product Manager, Team Leader, Data Scientist, Community Manager, Help Desk, Database Administrators - DBAs) in an Agile environment and will need to collaborate with external collaborators.***Your role:*You willbe responsible for the software quality of the engineering solutions and for the development and maintenance of automated test scripts for the frontend and backend components on the CI/CD environment.The position reports to the Technical Project Leader inthe Literature Services team and specific tasks will include:* Manual and automated testing for the new features and maintenance of the existing automation test suites for both the back-end and front-end components of the Europe PMC applications portfolio*Maintenance and enhancement of our test automation frameworks with the technical support and direction from the Senior QA member* Occasionally conducting the load testing for the new components / APIs* Defect management through JIRA or GitLab* Taking ownershipof the overall software testing activities within the agile team* Introduction of best practises, tools and framework***You have:** Experience in automated testing with a strong understanding of the complete software life cycle* Hands-on experience with BDD-Cucumberframework* Come up with a test/BDD scenario, automate and tag it to the Regression/Sanity test suites* Scripting experience on Selenium-Java-Junit tech or Protractor-JavaScript stacks* Ability to switch among various test-automation tools like for exampleCypress, Playwright, Puppeteer, Applitools* Integrating and publishing the test automation reports on GitLabCI or Jenkins* Exposure in performance testing [Gatling or JMeter]* Experience in API test-automation for SOAP and REST Webservices* Knowledge in Databasetesting and SQL proficiency* Knowledge of remote browser-based test-execution [like Selenium Grid, BrowserStack, SauceLabs etc.]* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills* Ability to operate in an international environment and be competent in spokenand written English* Ability to work independently and as part of a project team, managing personal priorities and workload effectively***Other contractual information: ** *Contract duration: *This position is a 3 year contract, renewable to a maximum of 9years* *International applicants: *We recruit internationally and successful candidates are offered visa exemptions* *Job number: *EBI01994-* Private medical insurance (for you and your family) * 30 days annual leave* Flexible work options* Family and childrenallowances* Pension scheme* Gym* Visa support* Paid relocation * Home leave trips every two years for non UK residents* Child sick days* On-campus nursery* Social events, sports clubs & free passes for punting & the Cambridge botanical gardens * Support withcareer development* Free shuttle busses * For more details please [see our employee benefits page](https://about/jobs/benefits)* Following closing date* Technical assessment to be completed at home* Panel interview CI/CD, Python, AgileAPI Testing, Jira, Git,BDD, JavaScript
