Quality Manager Hinckley/ Nuneaton £50,000 - £60,000 DOE SF Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Quality Manager to work for our established manufacturing client who offer solutions to the automotive industry. This role is for someone with extensive experience in managing Automotive Quality Systems and buildinga team and is regarded as a senior role. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of Quality, Quality Procedures & Business Operating Systems and to provide technical support to the business in the technical development of the Quality department and the operating equipmentused to confirm quality assurance. Purposes: To ensure ongoing accreditation in accordance with the business needs. To develop / analyse the business through the agreed business systems. To identify & implement improvement projects through robust PDCA. To assist the Managing Director in developing a cross-functional support team. To drive the continuous improvement programme. To liaise with customers / suppliers externally and internally as necessary To manage the department to achieving key performance criteria. Dimensions: Financial To ensure that Quality is adequately manned as per budget. To keep downtime costs to a minimum by responding efficiently to production quality concerns. To ensure the team is fully trained can operate all equipment within the department. To manage environmental programme in order to prevent environmental issues and subsequent claims. To control budgeted spend. To provide a system of calibration of all associated equipment. To manage the departments absenteeism, holidays, overtime, etc. To keep project costs within the agreed budget. To meet customer demands, internally and externally, on time and at the right quality. To support the making & achieving of the business plan. Principle Accountabilities: To support / devise Quality and Environmental action plans, to meet all relevant standards including IATF16949 and ISO14001 and ensuring the complete and timely introduction of appropriate measures. Authoritarian with respect to decision making on customer affected quality issues. To ensure departmental & company procedures are aligned with the quality standards as determined by the customer and adhering to the companys quality procedures thereby ensuring continued TS 16949 registration. To develop a cross-functional teamwork approach involving all departmental disciplines. To constantly monitor and analyse performance and implement continuous improvements. To maximize efficiency of operations via good management, a flexible manning approach to standardised work, practical problem solving, continuous improvement and plan, do, check & act methodology with built in quality. To devise and maintain a continuous training and development plan. To constantly improve and develop the process to ensure an efficient operation and delivering / improving the facility with all the necessary documentation so as to achieve full utilisation of the manufacturing resource focusing on consistent process that achievesthe daily production targets. To liaise with all customers, externally and internally as required. Preparation, monitoring and analysis of agreed KPIs. To ensure that adequate cover is maintained during any holiday periods. To assist, the Managing Director, in the construction of and achieving of, the operational budgets. To challenge current convention. To carry out any other duties, relevant to the post which may arise. Requirements and experience: Demonstrable experience in managing quality functions within the industry An HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering IATF16949 / ISO 14001 Experience is a pre-requisite Man management skills (inc. Disciplinary, Performance monitoring, Man Power planning and recruitment) Knowledge of automotive industry Manufacturing / production experience (In-depth experience of production planning and lean manufacturing) Knowledge of the manufacturing processes associated with Tube manufacture and subsequent processes. Customer liaison experience Excellent analytical & Practical problem solving skills. Financial awareness. Previous experience of developing efficient quality and business operating systems. Comprehensive IT skills. Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills. The ability to demonstrate and challenge convention and lateral thinking in the pursuit of continuous improvement Other Responsibilities: Responsible for the Quality team - Assignment of their work, review of their performance and co-ordination of all departments in order to achieve the above. Receives work via production notification system, budget assumptions, group requirements, production related quality equipment / process issues, via customer contact, through continuous improvement and Company Directors. Communication / contact via any method at all levels within the company and when necessary with customers and suppliers The effectiveness of the Quality Department will significantly impact on production performance and customer perception ultimately influencing profitability and thus long term survival of the business. You will be expected to work in both general office and shop floor environment.
