Acorn provides 5 short break beds and Adlin House is a 4-bedded long-stay ChildrensHomes in Hexham run by Action for Children. We are a highly motivated and supportive team, providing care, encouragement and support to the children who stay with us.As an Assistant Residential Worker, youll help our team provide a safe, stimulating, fun and caring environment, supporting the children with household tasks and all aspects of their care.Our dayshift rota pattern is a combination of early (7.00am2.00pm-this shift can end earlier in term time), late (2.00pm-10.00pm) and sleepovers for which you are paid an additional allowance. The rota is produced on a 4-weekly basis, you will usuallywork your hours across 4 days a week, and at least 2 of 3 days off per week will be together. There will be a mixture of early and late shifts within each week with sleepovers also distributed within the staff team.Waking nights are also part of the post and are shared out across the full staff teambut we are also looking for dedicated night workers. Although the role is advertised as 23 hours (3 days) there is some flexibility with the hours negotiable for the rightperson to join our team.You will make a difference by:- Providing a safe environment where young people can enjoy time with their friends.- Working towards giving young people a positive future.- Helping them in all aspects of their daily lives and supporting their health and happiness.You will need:- A Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People, or equivalent, or the willingness to work towards this.- Experience of working with disabled young people.- Excellent communication skills.- Knowledge of Safeguarding.- A positive approach, providing a fun environment for all the children in our care.- Access to a car would be desirable due to the location and there is an opportunity to be trained to drive the homes minibus.The way we workWe work to make sure every child and young person has the love, support and opportunity they need to reach their potential.
