Transport Shift Manager - Food Sevices - Hertford - Up to £40,000.About the CompanyMy client, a national foodservice business is on the lookout for a Transport Shift Manager to join its rapidly expanding team.   • Transport Shift Manager - Requirements
  • Lead, develop and motivate our team of Assistant Shift Managers and multi-drop Drivers to reach their full potential
  • You will be expected to manage the demands of the busy shift, dealing with problems that arise in a professional, effective and timely manner
  • You will therefore be able to work as part of a team, communicate effectively at all levels and be familiar with all aspects of legislation relating to commercial vehicles (including tachograph and drivers hours regulations)
  • You will be involved in monitoring and controlling costs within the department and will be required to provide related reports to the Transport Manager and Accounts Department
  • You will effectively manage staffing levels and meet targets and standards which support the achievement of our objectives
  • You should have the ability to build good team relationships, identify employees training needs, promote Health & Safety best practice, and possess first class organisation and people management skills
  • Ideally, you will have previous experience of Optac and Microlise
  • You must be well organised, self-motivated and have the ability to manage your time effectively
  • You will require strong PC skills, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • It is essential that you have previous experience of people management & development and that you can demonstrate a working knowledge of transport and haulage regulations
  • Reliability and flexibility will be key aspects of this challenging role
  • At Least 5 years experience within a distribution, logistics environment and of managing people
  • Must have Transport Manager CPC
  • Transport Shift Manager - Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the day to day decisions and activities of the department, ensuring in-house requirements and customer service levels are achieved
  • Responsible for managing customer relationship at all levels, along with producing daily, weekly, and monthly statistics on performance
  • Lead weekly and monthly performance reviews
  • Leading and developing the transport team ensuring they always understand and adhere to company and customer policies and procedures
  • Understand and keep up to date with all relevant transport legislation to ensure Environmental, Health and Safety, Quality and legal standards are always fully met
  • Plan and Manage resources efficiently to ensure budgeted targets and KPIs are met
  • Identify, develop, and adopt savings, initiatives, and improvements
  • Communicate with other sites, stakeholders, and customers to ensure efficient supply chain operations
  • Planning and organising vehicle availability ensuring maximised vehicle utilisation and profitability
  • Identify training needs of individuals through performance and appraisal systems and using company policies and procedures
  • Ensuring that all legal requirements are adhered to, including tacho collection, driver hours and transport legislation and that any offences are communicated to drivers and action taken if appropriate
  • Working with the HR department in recruitment, ensuring staffing levels are maintained and any recruitment is done in line with legal requirements and company policy
