Job Title: JSNA ResearcherLocation: Hertford and/or Stevenage, with opportunities for flexible workingSalary Range: £35,745 pa progressing to £39,880 paHours: 37 per weekContract: Permanent About usThe Public Health Evidence and Intelligence (Joint Strategic Needs Assessment) team is part of Hertfordshire County Council. In order to improve the health of our residents we need to understand their needs. The JSNA team provide internal and external stakeholdersaccess to robust evidence to inform decision making related to health and its wider determinants. The JSNA sub-team undertakes assessments of the health and social care needs of the population to inform commissioning and strategy across the system. We utilisea range of evidence and skills to do this, including evidence review, stakeholder engagement, statistical analysis and gap analysis.The roleThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to be a key member of a team committed to encouraging and enabling an evidence-based approach to improving the health of Hertfordshire residents. You will undertake day to day work on the JSNA production processincluding report writing, content creation and analysis. Applying knowledge of the needs assessment process and public health principles, ensuring the smooth running of JSNA projects and the quality of JSNA reports. Working with others in the team on disseminationof JSNA content, building relationships with commissioners and contributing to the development and delivery of relevant training for professional stakeholders.About youA Masters degree or equivalent work experience is required for this role. Experience will ideally be in one or a number of the following disciplines: Public Health, Epidemiology, Information analysis, or other relevant degree. You will be a highly motivatedindividual, committed to service excellence and confident working both on your own and within a team environment.You will have a minimum of one years experience working as an assistant public health analyst/researcher/evaluation officer or equivalent and demonstrable recent experience of working with a broad range of public health datasets, data visualization, written/JSNAcontent.You will have demonstrable recent experience of presenting both quantitative and qualitative public health information in high quality written reports and experience of working with limited supervision to achieve agreed objectives, making decisions on howthey may be best achieved, while adhering to broad professional or organisational policies.You will have experience of frequently using own initiative and ability to act independently in analysing and presenting information. With excellent interpersonal skills, and an energetic and proactive style, you will be able to communicate confidently andeffectively with professional staff across the organisation and wider health and social care system, building strong relationships and translating complex analysis into actionable insights.Closing date: 17 October 2021Interview date: w.c. 1 November 2021
