Did you know that up to 50% of people who have COVID-19 have no symptoms at allAt present, those people would be unable to book a COVID test as the testing capacity and focus has been on symptomatic testing. These people would be going about their day to day lives, shopping in supermarkets, potentially going to work and be unknowingly putting others at risk. That is all about to change.Throughout England, the government have asked councils to set up asymptomatic testing centres allowing anyone to book a COVID test and obtain a result in as little as 30 minutes. Through doing so, it’s the intention to drive down infection rates and outbreaks by quickly identifying those that have COVID but don’t have symptoms and asking those individuals and their close contacts to isolate. This will drive down infection rates and support getting Britain back to normality as quickly as possible, something we are all keen to happen in a safe and controlled way.Wakefield Council are in the process of setting up their first, public, asymptomatic testing centre and are looking for an Shift Supervisor to support and manage multiple operational teams and workstreams at their mass testing site.As an Shift Supervisor you will have had previous senior operational oversite of a number of operational teams and as these centres are working directly with the public, it will be a distinct advantage if that experience was from a customer facing industry. You will have a good grasp of rigour and control ensuring strict COVID compliance policies and procedures are adhered to by both staff and the public and will be confident taking the lead in diffusing escalating situations. You will be experienced in identifying process improvements and will be continually monitoring operational throughput and customer service to ensure that your centre is operating a peak performance providing the best possible service to the residents of Wakefield.Assignment duration: Temporary on-goingPayrate: £12.40 per hourHours: Part-time(Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: 7.30 am to 12.00pm, Wednesday and Friday: 3.30 to 7.30pm)For the right person, this is an outstanding opportunity to make a measured difference in the fight against COVID.
