Job Description

We are working with our growing manufacturing client in their search for a NPI Project Buyer. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the sourcing process from a sample through to PPAP approved products. The ideal candidate will have experiencefrom a fast-moving industry like the automotive or FMCG industry.   • Develop and harvest a culture of Automotive grade suppliers, with global footprint aligned to business growth and potential manufacturing footprints.
  • Liaise cross functionally within the business to support engineering, commercial, quality, supply chain and logistics departments.
  • Benchmark global surveys on Purchasing volume in order to deduce supplier strategy and savings potentials.
  • Creation of Total Cost Comparisons including supplier recommendations.
  • Complete nomination packs for management review including facilitation, presentation and conclusion of suitable decision. Minimise risk of monopolistic suppliers.
  • Drive and support implementation of supplier contracts to ensure quality, cost, delivery, capacity and technical requirements are aligned to internal product range and growth plans.
  • Responsibility for management and execution of purchasing activities for assigned components within the product portfolio, including:-
o Cross Functional Set Up & alignment of timeline, milestone and tooling planning.o Set up of project structure & kick off meeting with supply base & internal functions.o Lead Cross functional Supplier, Design and Manufacturing reviews to align FeA; DRBFM, PPAP alignment to adhere to APQP deliverables.o Manage project status updates, identify, manage and mitigate any risks identified.o Adhere to and develop internal processes and systems.o Complete lessons learned activities to finalise projects and initiate continuous improvement.
  • Support, develop and drive maturity within the Approved Supplier list to automotive level.
  • Purchasing Responsibility for selected suppliers including price negotiations and target agreements (supplier host). This will be aligned and supporting Supply Chain management and Logistics team.
  • Lead on price increase, material escalation, supply shortage constraints and supplier difficulties encountered.
  • Management, Summarisation and Fulfilment of Purchasing Management KPIs including but not restricted to
o Year On Year Savings reductions including contracted, VAVE and Resourcing techniques. This will include identification, workshop facilitation and supplier days.o On time Delivery Performance, in alignment with Supply Chain.o Scrap Rates and reduction programs in PPM, in alignment with QA team.o Contribution to cost reduction programs.o Contribution to growth programs of new product introductions.The Person:
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost breakdowns associated.
  • Automotive Purchasing processes and techniques.
  • Experience in working to IATF aligned systems.
  • Proven record of hitting target costs and aligning overall B.O.M costs to target.
  • Proven track record in working with global supply base and development of new suppliers.
  • Cross functional interaction with business functions.
  • Capability to participate or lead supplier audits, visits and progress meetings.
  • Strong record in identifying, delivering and managing cost down programmes including VAVE And resourcing techniques.
