The Planning Department plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of projects by developing comprehensive plans that guide the production teams efficiently.Position Overview:We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Engineering Planner to join our client’s dynamic Planning Department. As an Engineering Planner, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing project plans using MS Project and other planningtools, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. Your role will involve collaboration with project teams, interpretation of project specifications, and proactive problem-solving to drive project success.Main Responsibilities:

• Program Development: Create high-level project programs based on client/project briefs, integrating all aspects of the production life cycle. Ensure these programs are fully resourced and detailed to assist in project cost estimation.
• Specification Interpretation: Read and interpret owners specifications, project deliverables, and build requirements to develop logical and sequential work plans.
• Estimation Support: Initiate inputs and build methods for costing purposes, collaborating closely with estimators to provide breakdowns.
• Plan Dissemination: Issue plans to estimating, production, and project personnel, working closely with them to maximize plan effectiveness.
• Resource Forecasting: Provide labour forecasts and resource profiles to support efficient resource allocation.
• Progress Monitoring: Input progress data and conduct critical path analysis to ensure projects stay on track.
• Program Coordination: Monitor and coordinate different stages of integrated management programs, identifying and communicating program risks, opportunities, and recovery plans when necessary.
• Continuous Improvement: Maintain quality feedback loops to enhance product accuracy and communication across all levels, from shop floor to management.
• Multi-disciplined Works Program: Develop and monitor manufacturing programs using various planning tools, including bar charts, S curves, histograms, and Microsoft Project or other relevant software.
• Training and Support: Provide training and support as required to enhance planning capabilities within the organization.

Key Competencies:

• Proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Project.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Previous experience in an engineering background or shipbuilding environment.
• Commercial acumen.
• Planning qualification.
• Minimum HNC in Engineering.
• Fabrication experience through a time-served apprenticeship program.
