What started as a small operation has evolved into a fully operational work force, resulting in PJDS relocating premises twice to accommodate the growingbusiness.To date they have a comprehensive skill base of personnel from administration, industrial staff, design engineers through to management, many of whom have been long-term employees of the company.The role, skills and experience:Apprentices are required to complete their apprenticeship via the Utility and Construction Programme with in house and onsite training provided by Power Jointing when not attending the training school.Apprenticeship candidates are expected to have attained 3 to 5 GCSEs at grades A to C (Including mathematics, English and a science), or equivalent qualifications.The course apprentice candidates will join is the Power Network Craftsperson Level 3, provided by Utility & Construction Training Ltd. A Power Network Craftsperson has responsibility for the safe construction, maintenance and repair of the UKs electricalpower network, to provide a safe and reliable supply of electricity to the country.The occupation exists within an industry with a high level of safety critical activities, so there is a requirement for a disciplined and responsible approach to work. The work requires a good level of physical ability in order to access and egress workpositions.The programme runs over 3 years, with 130 days of formal training at UCTs training centre. The formal modules are as follows: Module 0 - Induction, Core Skills, Technical Skills 25 Days Module 1 - LV service jointing 25 Days Module 2 - LV mains jointing 20 Days Module 3 - 11kv Cable jointing (optional) 20 Days Module 4 - 33kv Cable jointing (optional Alt to Mod 3) 20 Days Module 5 - Resource management 5 Days Module 6 - Portfolio & review 6 DaysTechnical certificate awarded is as follows: City and Guilds 2339-17 Certificate (Electrical Power Engineering tutorial/workshops plus exam) - 24 daysEnd Point Assessment will also be required: A final assessment independently observed will dictate completion and final authorisation of successful learners - 5 daysOnce candidates have successfully completed their training with UCT, PJDS will provide further in house training and offer specialised DNO training courses to candidates to get them authorised to work on the system for PJDS.A full breakdown of what is included in the course will be provided by PJDS to all interested candidates, pre-enrolment.Having a driving license is preferable.How to apply for the Apprentice Cable Jointer role:If you have the skills and experience required for a career as a Cable Jointer, just click "apply" today and watch out for an email giving you more information on how to tailor your application and provide a cover letter or any other supporting documentsyou may have.You must be eligible to work in the UK.
