Our specialist and highly established family owned client is seeking to recruit a Workshop Manager due to high demand from customers and company growth.Mon-Fri 0800-1800 - Due to workplace location your own transport is essential.This highly important role reports to the Managing Director.The role Managing a small team of highly skilled engineers and a workshop controller, this role requires an experienced manager who is able to manage the team but on occasions also work on vehicles to support the team achieving their daily jobs.Competencies required Someone who can positively engage the team, has good organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, to make decisions and get things done without supervision.Problem solving approach to challenges is key to the success of this role, a real leader; someone who can drive results.Customer service skills are essential as there is an element of customer facing interaction, ensuring the company is providing excellent service throughout the business.Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for allocating work to the engineers effectively based on skill set and job locationDay to day running of the workshop, ensuring scheduled work is completed daily and any issues addressed promptly to have minimum customer impactWorking closely with the engineers and supporting the team keeping own knowledge up to dateAdhering to and ensuring staff follow health and safety policiesInvestigating complaints and liaising with the office manager to ensure a response is given in a timely mannerEnsuring staff have the right skills and are up to date in all aspects of their training.Coaching and supporting staff on training needsSupporting the development of a talented and high performing engineering team, nurturing an innovative and continuous improvement cultureManaging and reviewing consumables to ensure it is the best value for moneyWorking closely with the management team to identify areas in need of change and action accordinglyImplementing a strong work ethic and promoting customer excellenceSupervising the workshop controllerEnsuring engineer’s weekly diary are scheduled in the most effective way based on individual’s skills and the job locationOverseeing all goods deliveries to ensure it is logged accurately and matches the order; escalating any issues to the office manager promptlyEnsuring optimum management of stock, including accurate and timely process of returnsSkills and Qualifications required Workshop Manager within the motor sectorExperienced schedulerStrong people managerExperience in leading a teamHands on experience, working with toolsFabrication skillsCalm under pressureProcess improverApproachableCoaching and mentoringProblem solverPlanning and organisationHonesty and integrity - leading by exampleDesirable Skills Have good Microsoft Office experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Calendars)This is a superb opportunity to join a very specialist organisation who have a great work culture and who provide excellent levels of service to their customersFirst Recruitment Services is acting as an employment agency on behalf of this vacancy Required skills
