Job Description

CK Group are recruiting for a Shift Laboratory Technician to join a specialty chemicals manufacturing company at their site based in Haverhill on a full time, permanent basis.The Company:Our client specialises in chemical manufacture and they now have a vacancy for a Shift Laboratory Technician to join the team. The nature of the work is based within the Quality Control Department and you will be involved in analysing samples throughout themanufacturing process including goods in, shelf life extensions, non-conformances and also some research and development. The company offers a salary in the region of £25,000-£30,000pa depending on experience plus a 14% shift allowance. The day shifts are7am-7pm on a 4 on, 4 off rota covering weekends and bank holidays. Benefits include 23 days holiday, pension, discretionary bonus, life assurance and health insurance.Location:The Shift Laboratory Technician will be based at the companys site in Haverhill, easily commutable from surrounding areas.Your main duties will be to:

  • Prepare samples and conduct routine analysis
  • Perform laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data
  • Use computers and perform mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs
  • Assemble, maintain, and operate standard laboratory equipment
  • Keep equipment in a clean, serviceable condition and ensure the safe removal of waste
  • Arrange Preventative Maintenance, Servicing and Calibrations of laboratory equipment
  • Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked, resourced and that everything is clearly and correctly labelled
  • Establish, review and update QC procedure
  • Produce and signature Certificates of Analysis as required by the customer
Your Background:The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
  • Proven industrial lab experience including being competent in basic laboratory skills and familiar with standard laboratory practices
  • Industry gained experience of operating Gas Chromatography and HPLC - essential
  • Awareness of chemical hazardous classes
  • Familiar with measurement and weighing
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a scientific discipline ideally, or HND/ HNC qualified or equivalent as a minimum
Experience of the below would be ideal:
  • Some knowledge of lean sigma processes
  • Familiarity with working towards a production schedule in a dynamic and fast paced working environment
  • Experience in GPCs, Karl Fisher, Viscometer, IR, UV Spectrophotometer and pH and conductivity meters
  • GC / HPLC and GPCS Software
  • Experiencing working with Sage X3
