The Role:To support the Tooling Team, to facilitate the smooth running of Tool Store facility. To ensure that all presses have good tooling available at all times, by keeping tooling availability as high as possible. Shop floor tooling control including the use of systems, spread-sheets and associated paperwork. Interacting with Production and Quality, in relation to tooling problems and improvements. Attending the pre-press meeting, to give support from the Tooling Team. Keeping the pre-press screen up to date, for any lines affected by tooling and expediting any tooling issues. 5S inc. audits and actions. Basic tool maintenance, using a die-grinder and hand-stamping. Looking after jigs and fixtures. Passing off of new tooling. Use of AutoCAD i.e. reading drawings and making amendments over time. Raising orders for tooling. Communicating and expediting tooling dates with Tool-makers and other suppliers. Support for the Tooling Team as and when required. To participate in improvement activities in all aspects of the business.The PersonCandidates should ideally come from a tooling related background, either a time served toolmaker or technician, or from a toolroom support perspective. Capable of using BPCS, Excel and Access Database. Capable of expediting tool-makers for best delivery dates. Capable of understanding or learning how to read and make amendments to engineering drawings, using AutoCAD LT. Understanding of gauging principles. Experience of 5S and working to Standard Operating Procedures. Experience of a manufacturing environment, preferably in Engineering. Experience of pneumatic hand tools, such as die-grinders. Good communication skills. Ability to work under pressure
