Job Description

Central Employment are working with an impressive and hugely successful D2C & Online Retailer based in the North East. They have a number of dedicated category offering from bespoke Door, Flooring and Furniture to name a few. Due to planned growth within their operations team, they are looking to recruit a Retail Buyer, working alongside the category specialists and reporting into the MD.ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Forecast levels of demand for products.
  • Keep a constant check on stock levels.
  • Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
  • Responsible for the management of suppliers including procurement of products.
  • Manage and develop supplier relationships building positive long-term relationships whilst considering business ethics, cross cultural and global issues.
  • Responsible for the negotiating of pricing contracts and terms.
  • Creation of orders onto system.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on Supplier performance and non-compliance, presenting to senior management.
  • Undertake due diligence of suppliers and ensure that new suppliers are recorded and registered on business systems.
  • Assisting with the company’s goal of ensuring suppliers comply with Timber Import regulations like FSC & EUTR.
  • EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Educated to degree or equivalent level in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • Proven buying experience in UK & International wholesale market with a working knowledge of importing goods including currency and freight costs.
  • Strong commercial acumen including an awareness of container configurations and load ability of products.
  • Awareness of compliance e.g., UKTR/FSC/ISO9001
  • Previous experience of working with a product/category portfolio of over 2000 SKU’s including multi-component products.
  • Previous experience of preparation of cost analyses.
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrate expertise in written communication for contacts where English is the second language.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure.
  • Have strong commercial awareness of product development and an interest to develop this further.
