Job Description

Primary Job Purpose:Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role will be responsible for ensuring the business has an engineered solution to achieve the agreed product realisation. Sitting between production and engineering, this NPI Engineer role is the main technical interfacebetween the two and includes post design support work for existing products in productionRequirements of the role:

  • Youll hold a unique role that offers a blend of what would typically be New Product Introduction Engineering, Quality Engineering, Project Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Youll be working at a fast pace and youll work on all early stage product manufacturing activities within the business.
  • Youll work in with our Design, Production, Supply Chain and Sales teams and our customers.
  • Youll be responsible for delivering products to the agreed quality and build levels in the shortest and most efficient manner.
  • You will plan for manufacture, undertake pilot builds, then train and support production in the handover to manufacture.
  • Continuous improvement of the NPI-phase of our projects. This work includes yield analysis, minimizing cycle-times and quality improvements in general.
  • You will obtain and coordinate all manufacturing documentation / deliverables for NPI
  • Implement and maintain a high standard of new product documentation
Competency
  • To have good knowledge and hands on experience of using continuous improvement tools, including 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacture.
  • Your tool box will include a working knowledge of production planning, standard work documentation, FMEA, Control Plans, Kaizen and CI.
  • Facilitator and Negotiator - key element of role is the bringing together of cross functional teams and finding solutions to problems quickly
  • Project management, organisational and interpersonal skills in relation to NPI engineering tasks
Qualifications / Skills / Exprience:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience within the electronics manufacturing sector.
  • HNC/HND minimum Qualification within Electronic Engineering
  • Applicants should have experience/knowledge of APQP
  • Experience in creating manufacturing structures for PCBAs in conjunction with engineering to aid the manufacturing processes
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic work ethic
  • Understand technical specifications to be able to interpret customer requirements
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with people from all levels of the organisation and excellent communication skills
  • IT literacy and knowledge of ERP system
