Job Title: Grounds Maintenance OperativeLocation: Harrow, HA3 8NTEmployer: Pertemps Recruitment for Harrow CouncilContract Type: Temp / Full timeA fantastic opportunity within Harrow Council for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join us as a Grounds Maintenance Operative. We are seeking self-driven and motivated individual to join us as a Grounds Maintenance Operative to work on a full time contract. In return we pay a competitive rate up to £10.60 per hour dependent on experience, other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:"Extensive knowledge of common fine turf pests and diseases and appropriate control measures Significant experience of using grounds maintenance machinery, such as mowers, aeration equipment and line marking equipment"Experience of delivering seasonal sports and fine turf improvement programmes"Experience of working in a customer orientated service industry"A working understanding of equality issues and commitments to the aims and objectives of the Councils Equal Opportunities Policy in employment and service deliverySERVICE SPECIFIC DUTIES:- Operate a range of specialist grounds maintenance equipment and mowers, in accordance with the Councils safety procedures, to undertake cutting of bowls greens, cricket tables, golf tees and greens- Carry out specialist and skilled grounds maintenance activities to prepare fine turf bowls, cricket and golf pitches, and sports pitches for play and use- - Ability to apply a range of fertilizers, pesticides and maintenance programmes following appropriate application rates- Fully support crime and anti-social behaviour initiatives designed to ensure that the parks and green spaces are safe and attractive places to visit, and report incidents of antisocial behaviour and illegal activitiesHarrow Council is the 12th largest London borough by area and one of the most culturally diverse local authorities in the UK, making it a great place to live, work and visit. Located 10 miles from the city centre and just 13 minutes to Euston from Harrow & Wealdstone station there are great transport links via the Metropolitan Line, Watford DC Line and national rail service.
