Job Description

Job Title: Teaching AssistantLocation: Harrow CouncilEmployer: Pertemps Recruitment Partnership for Harrow CouncilContract Type: Temporary AssignmentHours of Work: 35 hours per week, 8:30am - 4:00pm Monday to Friday (term time only).Overview of a Teaching AssistantPertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Teaching Assistant to join an expanding team.The role of Teaching Assistant has a competitive pay rate of £12.12per hour to £13.02per hour, increasing in line with Harrow Council Pay Scale increments. Other benefits include, accruing up to 28 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays) and the opportunityto apply for any internal permanent roles within Harrow Council.The Main Purpose of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Work in close collaboration with staff in educational setting/s and teachers from the Childrens Sensory Team (CST)
  • Contribute to planning for the needs of the pupil/s
  • Devise and develop systems for gathering curriculum materials for modifications / adaptations in advance of lessons. Co-ordinate resources
  • Liaise with a wide range of resource providers
  • Provide in class support, this may also include supervising small groups.
  • Encourage increasing independence for the pupil. With school staff, support the pupils health and safety requirements
About you, the successful candidate will have:
  • A firm commitment to equal opportunities, principles and practices. A belief in the pupils right to independence and an awareness of when to stand back in order to encourage this
  • Successful experience of working with children and class teachers in a support role
  • The ability to prepare and organise high quality curriculum materials from print copies using a range of equipment, including ICT and specific software
  • The ability to communicate clearly with pupil with a visual impairment, parents and staff. Including a good recording voice
  • Have successful experience with working with children
  • Have GCSE Mathematics and English or equivalent
