Job Description

Technical Project & Design Coordinator working for a well-established and expanding steel fabricator in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.Job Salary:£25K - £30K - please note, there is flexibility with salary, which will depend on the Applicants skill set and how it fits in with the wider business.Client Details: Our client is a leading structural steel and architectural metalwork fabricator. They have a varied client base and work nationwide. They work on projects ranging from residential conversions through to football stadia expansion.Person Specification: It is essential that the successful Technical Project & Design Coordinator:

  • Has knowledge and experience gained working for a similar sized structural steel or architectural metalwork business.
  • Can fully understand architectural and engineering drawings, (Advanced Steel, Tekla).
  • Holds a good knowledge of steel fabrication and erection processes.
  • Is highly motivated and organised, able to work well independently and within a team.
  • Has excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Can use an analytical approach to problem solve, with minimal direction from management.
    • Role Description:Key duties of the Technical Project & Design Coordinator include:
  • Taking charge of the design co-ordination and administration following contract award, receiving detailed project handovers from the commercial team allowing you to co-ordinate all the relevant aspects as required.
  • Acting as the technical interface with internal and external stakeholders, (including but not limited to architects, engineers, detailers, and project sub-contractors).
  • Main point of contact for clients during the design and detailing phase, with a target to deliver each project in line with their construction programme dates.
  • Compile, issue and track RFI’s in collaboration with the design team.
  • Identify any current and potential future technical issues, (design, detailing, fabrication, and erection) and work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve these quickly and effectively. This may involve some site visits.
  • Responsible for identifying material variations during design, development and approval. Highlighting this to the commercial team to deliver variation costs to client if required.
  • When design / drawing approval is received you will prepare a handover to the Operations and Purchasing team ready for material procurement.
  • Once fabrication and site works commence, you will work in conjunction with the operations department to handle and resolve any technical issues that may arise.
  • Compile and maintain progress status reports and lead weekly review meetings - reporting any issues that may lead to a delay in delivering a project to the senior management team.
