Job Description

Raytheon Technologies is currently seeking a Senior Information Systems Technologist II to provide senior level Linux / Unix system maintenance and engineering support to maintain high priority systems at a high level of availability and resolve problems based on mission criticality and guidance. This position is staffed as an 8-5 position (with possible after hours call-in responsibility) at an OCONUS location. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • The Sr. System Administrator applies current technologies to the design, development, evaluation and integration of computer information systems and networks while maintaining system security. The selected candidate will work with commercial computer product vendors in the design and evaluation of state-of-the-art secure COTS applications, operating systems, networks and database products and technology.
  • Provides security engineering and integration services to internal customers. The selected candidate will be Involved in a wide range of issues including secure architectures, secure electronic data traffic, network security, information security and privacy.
  • Senior skills performing setup, deployment, and maintenance on servers running a variety of operating systems to include LINUX primarily, but may also include Solaris, UNIX, and Windows
  • Detects, isolates, documents, quickly reports, and seeks out solutions to resolve system outages or problems encountered on the system baseline, which includes collecting diagnostic data, performing troubleshooting tasks,
  • restoring the system operation, developing workarounds, and other activities necessary for recovery of a system
  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance such as general computer tasks, application loads, configuring user access, disk utilization, system loading and system monitoring
  • Completes required documentation such as logging problems in discrepancy reporting tools, capturing the current system design for future reference and transition, responding to any assigned and related taskers
  • Collects data describing the environment at the time of the failure and supports issue resolution - which may include writing root cause analysis
  • Maintain system security across assigned systems based on corporate and customer policy
  • Supports system engineering groups as required for ongoing analysis and integration efforts
  • Communicate and collaborate with other program personnel to develop and implement system enhancements
  • Ensure CONOPs, or technical guides are kept current
  • Requirements:
  • System Administration background working with virtual servers, physical servers, and associated technologies
  • Must have good communication skills and analytical approach to effectively and accurately exchange information across a multi-location enterprise
  • Flexibility to support new design/architecture tasking as part of system modernization development efforts as requested
  • Working experience with IAVA/security patch management
  • Familiarity with other disciplines (e.g., IP networking, SAN and NetApp storage server systems, etc.)
  • Must have the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
  • Contribute to completion of project milestones
  • Must be available to work after hours on a call-in basis
  • Must have a current DODI 8570.1-M IAT Level I certification
  • Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information.
  • U.S. Citizenship and an active TS/SCI w/ CI Poly security clearance is required for this position .
  • Desired Requirements:
  • Prior experience with OCONUS program supported systems
  • Prior experience working in the OCONUS programs customer enterprise environment
  • Education Requirements: A bachelors degree in a related technical discipline and 6 years of experience OR in lieu of a degree, possess 14 years of equivalent experience working in technical operations. This education will demonstrate an extensive familiarity with system administration of systems running a variety of operating systems to include LINUX, Solaris, or UNIX.
