**Fixed Term/Secondment Opportunity Until November 2021**Integrated Pathology Solutions (IPS) LLP is an innovative joint-venture pathology service between Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust, Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This partnership delivers a high quality pathology service through collaboration between three Trusts for the benefit of patient and service users.An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to join the Pathology management team at Harrogate District Hospital as Interim Blood Sciences Laboratory Manager for a period of 12 months. The right candidate will be a highly experienced and competent HCPC registered Scientist with leadership experience who can lead the team in striving to meet our Trusts aim of “Excellence every time”.This position would be an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual making their first step into laboratory management or somebody looking to broaden their experience before applying for a more senior role / a role in a larger department.The Blood Sciences Laboratory team encompasses; Specimen reception, Blood Transfusion, Haematology, Biochemistry, Specialist Biochemistry and Point of Care Testing. The Blood Sciences team are highly integrated and work well together with several staff trained as multidisciplinary practitioners.The role will allow for personal development and will require a considerable amount of liaison with the clinical teams served by the department.Following successful UKAS assessments all sections of pathology are compliant with ISO15189 standards and fully accredited. The Point of Care Team are proud to have been for the first in the UK to be both ISO 22870 & 15189 compliant. The Transfusion section is fully compliant with the requirements of the Blood Safety & Quality Regulations and was last inspected in October 2017.The departments UKAS schedule of accreditation can be found on the UKAS website.The department has excellent IT systems with ICE requesting & reporting, Clinisys LabCentre LIMS, Autocard request form scanning and QPulse quality management system. As part of the wider West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) collaboration the Pathology department is currently planning the installation of a joint network wide LIMS. The laboratory is well equipped with the instrumentation from the following suppliers; Grifols (transfusion), Sysmex (haematology) and Roche (biochemistry). New haematology instruments are due to be installed within the next 3-4 months.The Laboratory is currently on standby to provide Pathology & transfusion support to the Yorkshire & Humber Nightingale Hospital which is situated in the town about 10 minutes’ drive away.The successful candidate will work a standard weekly pattern of 5 days per week Monday to Friday but may be asked to vary their hours to meet the contingencies of the service.Candidates should take time to read the Job Description fully and ensure themselves that they fully conversant with the expectations of the role and are strongly encouraged to arrange a visit to the department.For further details / informal visits contact:Name: Andrew Jackson Job title: Pathology Services Manager Email address: Telephone number:
