Title: SEN Nanny / Manny Location: Harrogate, HG2Nearest Tube/Station: Harrogate, Hornbeam Park or StarbeckWage:Up to £27,100.00 + Gross per annum. £14.50 gross per Hour.Driver Essential Yes, with own car (full tank of petrol provided monthly)Essential: Seizure management experience,confident cooking* Start Date: January 2023Days & Hours: 8.30 am to 6.30 pm (3 or 4 shifts per week,family are flexible on the days) Additional hours are availableFamily/Client Pets: Yes, one friendly soft-natured dog Recruiter: About this client/child: Joshua is an inquisitive, sociable, engaging, and energetic 21-month-old who enjoys causing a little bit of mischief, sensory play, listening to music and nursery rhymes, andtrips to the playground. At 5 months, Joshua was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome ,arare form of epilepsy;seizure protocols and guidance are in place. Joshua is on 3 types of medication daily and follows a strict Ketogenic Diet to help with the management of his seizures. Triggers that can bring on a seizure include illness, change intemperature (mainly fevers), and overexertion. Mum and Dad workbut are always on hand to provide support if needed.Overview of role: The day-to-day activities and routine will depend on how Joshua has slept, if he is unwell or if he has had a recent prolonged seizure.The SEN Nanny/Manny will after time, start to recognise the signs of an oncoming seizure. Youll develop an understandingof when he can be encouraged and motivated to participate in activities, or when he needs a day of rest or calming and relaxing activities. Mum and Dad are very keen for the SEN Nanny/Manny to work on Joshuas overall development, including his communicationand gross motor skills, Joshua is preverbal andhas recently just taken his first steps! A portagetutor comes in one morning every two weeks to work with Joshua on his overall development and provides fun and educational activities for Mum, Dad, and hisSEN Nanny/Manny to incorporate into the daily routine. Joshua loves to play, and Mum and Dad are hoping he can start a few hours a week in a nursery in the coming months, supported by the SEN Nanny/Manny. Typical nanny duties include arranging playdates, runningsome errands, *batch cooking ketogenic recipes, and nursery/household chores related to Joshua such as laundry and tidying his playroom. Babysitting and respite hours are to be mutually agreed (additional pay for these hours)Who this job would suit: An experienced SEN Nanny/Manny with a passion for play and knowledge of early years child development. It is essential that you are confident in managing seizures and have previous experience supporting a child with epilepsy. The family requires a flexible,enthusiastic, and proactive SEN Nanny/Manny.
