Job Description

Gifford and Partners have been engaged exclusively to appoint a key position of Financial Controller within a fast growth PE backed SME. Positioned with an industry leading SME business showing strong performance and results, timing could not be more perfect to join! With an ambitious growth strategy and experienced and hungry board combining with one of the best PE investment partners, this position of Financial Controller will be a key appointment to drive the financial vision and be a major contributor in the companys future direction.The Financial Controller role is a critical position overseeing all financial control, governance and day to day accounting for this head office. Responsibilities will cover a number of key areas including group consolidation and reporting, UK trading and central Head Office accounting. The successfulcandidate will be a highly competent, numerate and technically proficient accountant looking to work within a fast-paced PE-driven SME business. Previous PE exposure or a good understanding of the demands that typically accompany a high performing, and investment backed business would be a distinct advantage but is not a not prerequisite.Principally, this role will work with the CFO, the central finance team and international operating subsids to deliver high quality financial accounting and ensure the correct systems, controls and financial disciplines are in place to underpin an ambitiousgrowth strategy.Other responsibilities will include and not be limited to;

  • Ultimate day to day running of an experienced and very capable accounting team.
  • Oversee the Financial Accounting for the UK and head office entities and other international subsidiaries.
  • Group consolidation and monthly reporting packs
  • Management of the balance sheet
  • Oversee Tax compliance and efficiency.
  • Credit and financial risk management
  • Treasury management including cashflow forecasting, FX management.
  • Group capex including insurance and other key compliance activities.
  • UK and overseas subs statutory accounting and reporting
Essentially, this role is targeting an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant with a minimum of 4-6 years of relevant work experience within a financial accounting, practice or controllership capacity ideally with industry currently.A great opportunity to gain PE exposure at Financial Control level setting up the foundation to one day become a credible Finance Director in a business hungry to engage change.
