HarrogateTemporary Accommodation Officer3 Month Contract to start Immediately x2Hourly rate: £12-£13phrMonday-Friday 9-5pmMust have own carDo you have experience in working with Hostels/HomelessnessDo you have patience in communicating and passionate about making a differenceHostel which provides a safe place to stay while we work together with residents to provide support and reach goals. The hostel also provides emergency cover for rough sleepers. The average occupancy for the hostel each year is 95% and the average stay is around80 nights. The hostel aims to help residents move on to independent living, whether this be one of our own accommodation or local authorities, which they help to organise. Residents are supported even when they leave the hostel to ensure the best possibleoutcome.Some experience of working in a similar setting is essential as the circumstances of the people being supported will be complex. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.Roles & Responsibilities" Support tenants with benefit claims and housing applications." Support the process of management of tenancy related issues such as new tenancy sign ups, tenancy warnings, end tenancy and repairs under the direction of your line manager. " Responsible for the safety and security of the temporary accommodation, ensuring compliance with health & safety policies and procedures, liaising with relevant members of staff and/or representatives from both voluntary and statutory agencies where appropriate." Ensures the effective administration of all records relating to charge payments for residents in temporary accommodation, including monitoring of both current and former arrears cases, liaising with residents in respect of arrears and making arrangementsfor repayment, giving welfare benefit advice and referring to relevant debt advice counselling services. Makes recommendations for possession action to the Housing Options Team Leader where appropriate, assisting in the preparation of Court documentation." To maintain accurate records as required by policies and procedures, proactively contributing to continuously improving the service by making positive suggestions, providing constructive feedback and assisting in the implementation of agreed new ways of working. " Provide regular support to tenants in line with their agreed level of support plans and any other duties as required." Liaises with the Senior Housing Options Officer/Housing Options Officers to identify suitable placements for homeless households across the full range of temporary accommodation available, often without advance notice, in order to comply with statutory dutiesand to minimise the use of Bed and Breakfast accommodation. " Manages the Councils own temporary accommodation, void properties from vacation, clearance, gas and electrical safety checks, repairs and lettings, to ensure vacancy periods and income loss are minimised.
