Orthodontic Therapist - Hampstead, LondonSalary: Very Competitive DOEThe CompanyOur clients’ practice is focused on excellent patient care, quality of service and providing high standards. Working as a team to provide the best care to make sure patients feel comfortable and are looked after as individuals. Understanding their respective roles in the team and working together to achieve excellent results.The therapists here are specialized, qualified and experienced members of the team, who are registered with the General Dental Council. They undertake certain clinical procedures in the practice under instruction from our principal orthodontist.The Role We are looking for a qualified and experienced orthodontic therapist for a practice in Hampstead. The perfect applicant will be friendly & have a caring manner, be well presented and have good spoken & written English. This is a temporary 4 day position to cover maternity leave (Tues - Fri) for approximately 4 months, but could progress into permanent employment at the practice.Role Responsibilities include:Carrying out Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) screening either under the direction of a dentist or direct to patientsCleaning and preparing tooth surfaces ready for orthodontic treatmentPlacing brackets and bandsPreparing, inserting, adjusting and removing archwires previously prescribed or, where necessary, activated by a dentistTaking impressions and pouring, casting and trimming study modelsClinical record taking: intra and extra-oral photographs, dental impressions, occlusal records and face bow records where requiredInserting passive removable appliances (such as space maintainers or retainers) and active removable appliances that have been adjusted previously by a dentist. This includes headgear and facebows that have been previously adjusted to fit by a dentistTaking occlusal records including orthognathic facebow readingsPlacement and removal of fixed appliancesIdentifying, selecting, preparing and placing auxiliariesProviding emergency orthodontic careTaking intra and extra-oral photographsFitting tooth separators and bonded retainers.Essential Skills & Requirements:The therapist should be qualified and with experience on a variety of appliances.
