Job Description

My client in Guildford are looking for a Technical Product Manager, on a contract basis for 12-18 months working hybrid, paying up to £600 p/d inside IR35.As a Technical Product Manager, your role involves acting as the liaison between business stakeholders and the technical development teams (in-house/3rd party).Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Product Vision: Communicating the technical product vision and strategy, aligning with overall business goals.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborating closely with business stakeholders to document technical requirements, ensuring a thorough understanding of their needs and priorities.
  • Feature Prioritization: Making informed decisions about feature prioritization, balancing business needs, technical complexity, and resource constraints.
  • Technical Roadmap: Developing and maintaining a technical roadmap, prioritizing features, enhancements, and technical debt based on business value and technical feasibility.
  • Feedback Loop: Establishing a feedback loop with business stakeholders to gather feedback on technical solutions and using it to drive improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with cross-functional teams (software developers, architects, quality assurance, DevOps) to ensure effective and efficient product development.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating technical risks that may impact the successful delivery of the product.
  • Release Planning: Coordinating technical product releases, defining release goals, feature scope, and timelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Defining and validating technical acceptance criteria to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and scalable solutions.
  • Technical Documentation: Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including user stories, feature specifications, and technical diagrams.
Previous Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in a related Computing field (Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Systems, Applied Computing, or similar).
  • Experience as a Product Owner or similar role in technical product development.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Deep technical knowledge and experience in software development, architecture, or related areas.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with product management and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Passion for technology and a keen interest in staying updated on emerging tech trends.
Key Skills:
  • Exposure to modern O/S (e.g. Windows & Linux).
  • Developing and supporting IT tools in a business environment.
  • Understanding of Software Development processes and associated software development lifecycle challenges.
  • User engagement - translating business needs into viable solution design.
  • Experience of leading ERP implementations - (SAP4/HANA).
Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas would also be beneficial to the role:
  • Web Application development (e.g. HTML5, JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework/ORM).
  • SaaS/Cloud-based technologies.
  • General scripting/programming resources for IT
  • Excellent inter-personal skills - both written and oral communications.
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver both immediate and longer-term tasks.
  • Proven ability to deliver solutions under pressure and to tight timescales.
