Job Description

Site Reliability EngineerConcept: Retail/hospitality MartechLocation: Guildford/ManchesterSalary: Depending on experienceOur client is a successful global MarTech business use in both hospitality and retail. They have gone from strength to strength over the last few years and are now looking to expand their team in either Surrey or Manchester. The role could be mostly remote providing you are close enough to occasional access.SITE RELIABILITY ENGINEER KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code to help reduce toil and make more use of
    • automation using the software development standards and practices endorsed by the
  • department
  • Shared responsibility for the platform-wide security, performance, scalability and usability of the Company’s SaaS systems
  • Guided by an Agile mindset of respect, collaboration, improvement and learning cycles,
    • delivering value, and adapting to change
  • Consulted on the technical feasibility of and complexity estimates of business requirements
  • Be an active member of a team: discuss, collaborate, engage. Seeking solutions when under pressure, without finding others to blame
  • Bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm and creativity to the department
  • Openness to other people’s ideas and ability to judge when to assert own opinion
  • Strong communication skills, open to guidance from others while asserting own views as appropriate
    • Who will you be as Site Reliability Engineer
  • Basic understanding of cloud and serverless technologies
  • Basic understanding of automation principles
  • Exposure to containerisation technologies such as Docker
  • Experience in shell or bash scripting
  • Experience and understanding of programming languages such as Python or PHP
  • Experience of building and deploying pipelines in Jenkins or serverless CI/CD pipelines
  • such as Travis CI or Circle CI
  • Experience with managing and maintaining MySQL databases and fluent with basic SQL
  • Extensive knowledge of Linux Operating Systems such as CentOS
