If you want to join a leading Ophthalmic Hospital group that makes a difference, this could be the ideal opportunity for you. The Candidate We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Scrub Nurse, ideally with post registration experience within an ophthalmic theatre. Experience within ophthalmology is beneficial but is not essential as full training will be provided. You will be assisting with the following surgeries; Cataracts, Glaucoma, Refractive Surgery, Retinal Surgery, and Oculoplastic Surgery. Part of your role as a Scrub Nurse is to ensure a high level of patient care is provided at all times, along with excellent communication skills and team working abilities. An interest in continuous professional development is key, as training will be provided and there will be opportunities to grow and develop within the team. Main responsibilities include; anticipating the needs of the surgical team, taking responsibility for surgical equipment pre and post surgeries, complete administration tasks within your role to the highest standard, identify potential issues and problems and report accordingly, circulating within theatres, and some Anaesthetic duties which will be taught if needed. This is a fantastic opportunity to participate in all aspects of the Ophthalmic Surgical Pathway and a chance to expand and develop your own skills. Although previous ophthalmic experience is desirable, it is not essential and we will be considering application from General Surgical Scrub and Anaesthetic RGN/ ODP backgrounds. Essential Requirements - Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) qualification - Current NMC/ HCPC registration - Previous Scrub Nurse experience - Evidence of ongoing professional development - Computer Literate - Positive and flexible attitude - Strong Commercial approach - Problem solving and analytical skills - Excellent communication skills Location This opportunity is based in Guildford, Surrey and is commutable from Woking, Godalming, London, Leatherhead, Farnborough, and boats of great transport links via the A3. My client is situated just a 10 minute car ride/ 20 minute bus ride from Guildford train station.
