Job Description

Your new roleLTC is National Highways largest single investment project and includes building one of the largest twin-bore tunnels in the world.By nearly doubling SRN capacity over the River Thames east of London, we will improve access to jobs and skills for local communities, support business growth in Essex, Thurrock and Kent as well as improve vital connections with the ports for the freightindustry.To maximise the wider benefits of the scheme for local communities and the environment, a comprehensive programme of wider investment has been developed in partnership with stakeholders. Primarily funded through designated funds, the programme already includesa new community woodland, new routes for walkers and cyclists, improvements to the coastal path, a new country park and improved community facilities at existing sites, a heritage app, conservation works to local heritage sites and improvements to local wildlifehabitats.As a valued member of the LTC Programme Development team, your role will be to manage the successful delivery of the programme. This will include procuring and managing technical support services to develop projects preparing for delivery, and then managingthe relationship with stakeholders once delivery funding has been secured. There will be plenty of opportunity to bring your own ideas to add to the programme along the way, too.Youll be responsible for taking ownership of the process from procuring technical services or setting up legal agreements with other delivery bodies, through to managing financial forecasts, tracking and reporting spend, and ensuring the required assuranceactivities are completed at project completion. You will also be responsible for producing reports and providing information to support the central designated funds team within National Highways.What youll be leading on

  1. Developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with the Project Directors, technical leads and other key internal and external stakeholders, to ensure full mutual understanding of each projects strategic and delivery objectives, to reporton and review programme performance, and to agree solutions that resolve issues.
  2. Designing, agreeing and implementing delivery plans that ensure activities are effectively organised to deliver programme objectives, and are appropriately resourced to deliver the required outcomes.
  3. Managing the performance of delivery partners and expert consultancy support as appropriate, including setting up contracts that ensure each projects objectives, cost and time requirements are clearly understood, and providing additional support and takingappropriate remedial action where necessary.
  4. Planning, tracking and monitoring delivery progress on a monthly basis, both within the LTC programme and the wider organisation
  5. Undertaking effective and efficient assurance reviews at key stages including project completion to evaluate delivery progress and compliance with National Highways policies and funding requirements
To be successful youll need
  • You will have experience of managing technical assurance for projects through company defined governance, review and approval gates.
  • You will have proven experience of managing relationships with multiple stakeholders and evidence of skills to influence relationships for positive outcomes.
  • You will have commercial skills with the ability to manage contracts working to, and improving, finance and reporting processes.
  • Demonstratable experience managing multiple projects whilst meeting challenging deadlines.
  • Previous experience identifying and managing risks to successful project delivery.
