Job Description

Surrey County Council’s Adult Social Care Service is looking for enthusiastic Newly Qualified Social Workers to join our new September Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) cohort.For your first year in practice, our established ASYE programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop your Social Work professional identity. Our ASYE forum groups will offer you networking opportunities and regular meetings with the other Newly Qualified Social Workers in the cohort. Your professional development will be reviewed at regular intervals enabling you to receive feedback about your practice as you progress through the year. The programme offer also includes protected development time, reduced caseload and an enhanced frequency of supervision. All of which, support you to develop your knowledge, skills and confidence as you transition into practice within an adult social care setting.We are looking for newly qualified professionals who share the same values and ethos as we do. We want Social Workers who believe it is important to promote people’s independence and wellbeing through personalised care and support that focuses on their strengths, the outcomes they want to achieve and enables choice and control.You will be based in one of the county’s Adult Social Care Locality Teams in the following towns: Guildford, Godalming, Woking, Addlestone, Ashford, Epsom, Esher, Dorking, Reigate and Oxted and Camberley or hospital teams based in: Guildford, Frimley, Chertsey, Epsom, and Redhill.An ASYE assessor will be identified prior to the start of your ASYE programme. You will be supported by your ASYE assessors and coordinators to gain an understanding of what you need to do to successfully complete your ASYE.To be shortlisted to interview, your CV will clearly evidence:

  • You are currently on course to successfully complete the final year of a Social Work degree (or equivalent), or you have successfully completed a Social Work degree (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with Adults and their families, e.g. voluntary work/transferable work experience skills, etc.
  • Registered with Social Work England, or you will register with Social Work England upon completion of your Social Work degree.
  • Hold a valid full UK drivers license and have access to a vehicle.
  • You have fully answered the supplementary questions
