Job Description

Surrey Heartlands CCG is looking for a Neonatal Clinical Nurse Lead to work with the LMS, Neonatal ODN and Regional Maternity Network to drive transformation of neonatal services across the LMS aligned to the national Better Births Review, NHS Long Term Plan and the NCCR Transformation Review. The post holder will work focus on the national neonatal ambition to provide a seamless, responsive and multidisciplinary service centred on the needs of new-born babies in partnership with families in their care, delivering care as close to home as possible and minimising separation of the mother and baby.The role Neonatal Clinical Nurse Lead will support the ODN/LMS and Clinical Leads with the national ambition for 50% reduction in stillbirth, maternal mortality, neonatal mortality and serious brain injury by 2025 with high quality care and outcomes.We have an ambitious vision for transformation and continuous improvement of health and care across our footprint. We are in the unique position of having secured a devolution deal, which for the first time really brings together health and social care by allowing us to commission from a single budget. We are also developing four dynamic and sustainable Integrated Care Partnerships (across East Surrey, Guildford and Waverley, North West Surrey and Surrey Downs localities) based on co-operation with our component partners, and focusing on local population needs, priorities and decision making.In addition, we have responsibility, delegated from NHS England, for managing Primary Care contracts across the Surrey Heartlands footprint.Key responsibilities of role;

  • Work in collaboration across the LMS with providers and the CCG to ensure that maternity and neonatal services are responsive to the needs of babies and their families.
  • Lead in the facilitation and delivery of the programme outputs for the Neonatal Critical Care Transformation Review
  • Promote Neonatal ODN and LMS learning packages, including competencies for parents and all levels of midwifery and neonatal registered and non-registered workforce.
  • Support the identification of provider/LMS performance against key themes through metrics and dashboards against regional/national trends.
  • Provide expert clinical advice to key stakeholders to ensure best practice standards are met that will improve outcomes for babies as set out in the Neonatal Critical Care Transformation Review, NHS Long Term Plan, the Better Births Review and other key policy documents.
  • Partnership working with each provider to enable cross organisational training pathways and facilitate achievement of ongoing competence across all dependency levels of care and care settings.
  • Promote shared learning to support patient safety working in partnership with the LMS Clinical Leads, Governance/Safety Champions, AHSN and the Mat-Neo collaborative across the LMS and KSS ODN.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills and work in collaboration with key stakeholders across the LMS to inspire others to improve standards of care and practice.
  • Support defining and integrating neonatal and LMS local pathways for consistent high quality service outcomes for babies and families.
  • Contribute to specialist content for the production and dissemination of NCCR assurance and reporting.
  • The ideal candidate for this opportunity will demonstrate qualities, skills, knowledge and experience to meet all the essential criteria for the appointment. They will have in depth knowledge of the Maternity Transformation Programme and Neonatal Critical Care Transformation Review. The candidate will have significant clinical experience and be an expert in neonatal clinical care and delivering specific neonatal quality improvement projects.
