Job Description

Summary Are you looking for something a little different We have a unique opportunity to lead the ongoing development, conservation and engagement for this beautiful, historic waterway that runs for nearly 20 miles through the heart of Surrey and Hampshire.Were looking for an inclusive leader who can inspire teams, engage visitors, create partnerships and manage change to reflect the historic setting and nature of the property, whilst balancing what’s important for our visitors both on the towpath and the water.We offer a salary range between £40,000 - £43,000 depending on experience. Timber, corn, flour, wood and gunpowder were transported along the canal and then down the Thames to London while coal was brought back for gunpowder making and smithery. What youll be doing Our General Manager roles are broad and focus on leading our portfolios through strong people, relationship and operational leadership.   • Experience of creating a vision and engaging teams to bring it to life.
  • Experience of leading, motivating and developing teams and individuals.
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to develop both strategic and operational plans and put them into action.
  • Experience of managing complexity and competing priorities.
  • A flexible and agile approach, comfortable working with ambiguity and responding to a breadth of opportunities within a busy visitor focussed portfolio.
  • The ability to see and respond to changing audience, visitor and supporter needs
  • A collaborative, inclusive and partnership approach
