Your new roleReporting to the Commercial Manager you will be a part of a project team aligned to the Asset Support Contracts and the transition to Asset Delivery Contracts which are responsible for keeping the strategic road network moving in the South East Region.As a Quantity Surveyor you will provide commercial and contract management services throughout the life cycle of a project, managing your own portfolio of work in the value of £10-£20m per year. The role will see you provide commercial assurance as partof the delivery of Schemes through the preparation of budget estimates, target prices and scheme forecasts, monitoring of actual costs against targets and performing cost and value reconciliation to ensure correct cost capture has occurred.As a flexible working organisation were pleased to offer this role on a full time, part time hours considered basis, from the following locations - Basingstoke, Guildford or Maidstone.This is a great opportunity to join National Highways, as well as being a major client investing billions across the strategic road network, our investment is set to increase which marks the biggest ever increase in funding for the road network. We offer exposureto civil engineering projects that are connecting communities, sustaining business and support the economy.What youll be leading on The preparation of target prices in line with contract from project inception to target agreement. Activities includes contract management - sending enquiry documentation, quotation assessment, task order award and instructions to supply chain where required. Supply Chain Payment assessment including all relevant documentation on a monthly basis, ensuring Scheme Cost and value reconciliation is performed to ensure correct cost capture has occurred Management of site level change management including early warning and compensation event management and production, to the relevant delegated authority as necessary. Preparing scheme forecasts, monitoring actual cost against targets and advising on contractual matters/ implications, and determining final accounts Attendance and involvement in buildability meetings and reviewing designs at various stages of completeness for commercial and contractual compliance Working collaboratively side by side with other departments and offer assistance as required.To be successful You will hold, or be working towards a B.Sc(H) or HND in Civil Engineering, Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying, and be working towards, or have the ability to pursue membership of a relevant professional body You will have experience in managing a portfolio of commercial and contractual work within the Construction/ Infrastructure industry, from assessing tenders, target pricing through to closing out schemes You will have experience of NEC 3 or 4 contracts and/or demonstrate understanding of the commercial role within them You will have IT competence with the Microsoft office suite of programmes with particular emphasis on excel proficiency You will have experience in collaboratively leading commercially challenging situations to achieve successful commercial outcomes You will have experience in mentoring othersA bit about usTheres never been a better time to join our Commercial and Procurement team.
