Job Description

Technical Manager- Grimsby - £45,000- £55,000 plus benefits. Due to an internal promotion Chase and Holland are working with an award winning, leading global business in their search for an experienced Technical Manager to join their teamReporting to the Commercial Director, you will manage a department that ensures that the company maintains and develops a strong technical base, in terms of products and equipment capability, together with providing appropriate support to the sales departmentand customers products and process needs. Technical Manager Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all new raw materials are fit for purpose and are commercially & technically sound
  • Establish and maintain a brief for raw material suppliers, capital equipment suppliers and competitors
  • Support Directors by investigating and report on new markets / products / equipment
  • Introduce new materials and processes ensuring that they are introduced in a safe, efficient, and timely manner through an agreed trialling protocol
  • Liaise and agree specifications for raw materials with the Pre-Production Department
  • Produce and maintain up to date Sales/Pre-production/Production training material
  • New Product Development and Research
  • Working to ensure that all migration and aromatic amine testing is conducted
  • Responsible for research and development of new products
  • Preparing and issuing Declarations of Compliance when requested by customers and enforcing and maintaining the procedure for issuing daily DoCs
  • Ensuring supplier Declarations of Compliance are correct and up-to-date and advising where uses may be restricted linked to this information
  • In conjunction with the QA/Environmental/Hygiene/Health and Safety Manager, responsible for dealing with product scares (e.g. Melamine, Bisphenol-A, NC inks).
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with food-contact legislation
  • Travel when required (incl. Europe) to support customer requirements, continued professional development, trials and complaints
  • Responsible for additional requirements dictated by the relevant Chain of Custody Standards (e.g. FSC, ISCC) as specified in the Chain Of Custody Procedures manual.
  • To work within Government and Company Health & Safety policies and practices and report any hazards or incidences
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday 9am- 5.30pm (Requirement to travel predominantly in the UK/EU)Required Skills and Experience:
  • Previous experience of working within flexible packaging
  • A proven track record for working with sensitive information and maintaining a high standard of confidentiality at all times
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
