Job Description

Purchasing ManagerGrimsby, North East Lincolnshire£40,000 - £50,000 depending on skills + attractive benefitsFull time / permanentOur client makes cellulose fibre from managed natural wood sources using sustainable cutting edge processes for textile, non-wovens and technical end uses.They are innovative by nature. How about youThey now have an opportunity at their Grimsby continuous operation factory for a Purchasing Manager.Purpose & Key responsibilities for this role

  • Ensure Grimsby site operates within framework of Global Purchasing policy (GP01)
  • Develop & deliver the local purchasing strategy and lead the local Purchasing team in alignment with the Grimsby manufacturing strategy
  • Develop & maintain purchasing systems including SAP to ensure efficient & effective processes are in place as well as sufficient oversight of contracts / services / supplies
  • Ensure all UK users are sufficiently trained in the use of purchasing systems
  • Ensure availability of raw materials and services to required safety / cost / time / quality / quantity specifications to achieve planned fibre production
  • Ensure availability of engineering spares to meet the engineering strategy
  • Ensure supplier service agreements are in place to support the ongoing business requirements
  • Provide the logistical interface between suppliers and the central purchasing team such that supplies to the business are scheduled to be delivered when required.
  • Ensure monthly raw material stock checks are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Document and maintain appropriate SHE procedures for purchased materials and services and with regards to the receipt of goods/materials to the site
  • Lead the sourcing of products for new developments
  • Lead contract negotiations and supplier relationship management
  • Identify and research new vendors to support price and supply negotiations
  • Manage the storage of raw materials / consumables in accordance with ISO9000/14000
  • Ensure Vendor assessments are conducted to ensure conformity to set standards
  • Responsible for ensuring that internal and external Safety, Health & Environmental standards are met in terms of both personal and teams work performance and behaviour
  • Their expectation for this exciting role:
  • Experience within an Industrial/Chemical Manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor degree ideal, CIPS qualified essential
  • Strong understanding of business, contract law and commercial negotiations
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational & communication skills
  • Ability to strategically manage a function & team
  • Structured and analytical thinker with excellent negotiating skills
  • High personal and professional standards/integrity
