Job Description

We work collaboratively to provide the best support and treatment to anyone who needs it.If this sounds like the kind of role that youre looking for, please read on.About the jobAs an Independent Prescriber you will be responsible for carrying out clinical assessment, diagnosis, and clinical management in line with both With You and National regulations, policies, and procedures.You will be eager to keep up to date with developments in the treatments that you are prescribing and help With You to develop, implement, and evaluate the interventions we use with our clients. These include:

  • harm reduction; providing support and advice in relation to substance misuse
  • clinics: where we assess, screen, and tirage clients, advising on detoxification where appropriate
  • vaccination and blood testing programmes
You will be used to working effectively as a healthcare professional, as part of a team, and collaboratively with other social care contacts to deliver the best outcomes for clients.Its not just about those people who actively engage with our service though, you will also be reaching out to those in our communities to offer proactive support and education.We welcome applications for this Independent Prescriber role from candidates with experience in the following areas: Diagnosis, Clinical, Healthcare, NMC Registered, GPhC, CPD, Substance Misuse, Communications Skills, IT, Organisational Skills, Time Management.Benefits

Essential SkillsTo be effective in this Independent Prescriber role, you will:
  • be at first level nurse registration OR a registered pharmacist (GPhC)
  • have successfully completed the supplementary/independent prescriber course and hold an appropriate entry on the NMC register or GPhC register
  • be able to evidence your continuous professional development
  • have a successful track record of delivering nursing interventions in a community setting
  • be able to demonstrate your experience of healthcare assessments, care planning, and key working
  • be able to evidence peer working or working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • have knowledge of the issues affecting substance misusers, including the impact on their wider health
  • be able to work effectively in a team environment, using collaborative and supportive approaches to your work
  • have strong organisational/time management skills, able to manage competing and conflicting demands
  • be comfortable and confident using IT packages
  • be able to accurately gather and maintain records and information
Desirable SkillsPreference will be given to any candidates that meet the essential criteria and fulfil all or some of the following:
  • educated to degree level or above
  • undertaken relevant postgraduate study
  • qualified to perform immunisation and vaccinations
  • completed a Mentorship Course/ENB 998 or equivalent for pharmacists experienced in providing supervision
  • clinical experience in more than one speciality including substance misuse
  • experience of devising and delivering immunisation and vaccination programmes
  • trained in safer injecting techniques
  • understand and are aligned to harm minimisation in drug treatment work
  • experience of dealing with the physical health issues associated with injecting drug users and delivering appropriate clinical interventions
  • experience of successfully delivering training to others
  • proficient at dealing with difficult situations and ensuring personal safety
  • understand and have experience of delivering group work
  • understand solution focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and/or Motivational Interviewing
