Job Description

Consultant Dermatologist North & North East Lincolnshire Dermatology ServiceAs a Consultant your days will be fulfilling and varied, key responsibilities will include dermatological diagnostic and surgical procedures as well as autonomous prescribing for patients.Within the role you willhave the option to join your clinical specialism, networking with professionals from across the country. We get together regularly, auditing and sharing standard methodology for innovation and service re-design. Youll be a partof the pool of subject matter experts bringing together clinical and operational leads and you will be a part of quality improvements, research and development activity.Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake new and follow up consultations including a full assessment of the medical condition, the patients concerns and expectations. The post holder will enter full details of history, examination findings, diagnosis and treatment plan in the case record.
  • Follow care pathways for the common skin problems as recommend by national guidance
  • Prescribe treatment only for the presenting complaint and in accordance with the dermatology formulary and prescribing restrictions
  • Ensure that patient or carers are informed fully about the condition, answer any questions, supply written information if available and involve them in decisions about the treatment
  • Dictate a letter to the patients GP at the time of the consultation for every patient and arrange to review the letters and amend as necessary to an appropriate time scale.
  • Undertake dermatological surgical procedures only with evidence of appropriate training.
  • Participate in Audit and evaluation
  • Undergo annual appraisal and participate in clinical governance meetings
  • Report incidents and complaints and cooperate with investigations
  • Undertake all required Postgraduate training and development to maintain skills

The Ideal CandidateApplicants must possess MRCP or equivalent, be fully registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practice. Applicants must have entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Dermatology or be within 6 months of obtaining their CCT at time of interview. Youwill need to be able demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in the management of all aspects of Dermatological conditionsYou will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
