Job Description

Position: Team Leader – Residential Care Learning DisabilitiesSalary: £10.55 – £10.85 per hourLocation: Gretton, Corby, Northamptonshire, NN17 3DEAre you ready to progress your career in care with Consensus We are recruiting for a Team Leader (Senior Support Worker) with a positive and caring attitude at our local service: Gretton House. As an award-winning healthcare organisation, we can support you to take the next step in your career.About the Role of Team Leader (Senior Support Worker) at Gretton House, Consensus Support Services - (Residential PWS Service):

  • Gretton House is located in the beautiful village of Gretton, Northamptonshire just 5 miles (10 minute drive) north of Corby. An absolutely stunning and very homely Grade II Listed Manor House built in the mid-1800s, providing accommodation for up to 20 individuals. Bedrooms are spread across 3 floors and there is a stair lift available for individuals with limited mobility. The service also benefits from a landscaped garden to the rear of the property with spectacular views across the Welland Valley.
  • Gretton House is a residential service supporting adultswith Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) rated GOOD with the CQC. Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a rare, complex genetic disorder that affects both males and females from birth and throughout the rest of their lives. It causes low muscle tone with consequent motor developmental delays, a mild to moderate learning difficulty, emotional and social immaturity, which can lead to challenging behaviours. An overwhelming and insatiable chronic appetite usually develops which, without rigorous food management and exercise regimes, leads to food seeking, stealing and life threatening obesity.
  • To work individually and as part of a team, supporting the Team Coordinator and Service Manager to ensure the smooth running of the service and to ensure that individuals we support are provided with a safe, caring and stable environment.
  • Our friendly, supportive team of Support Workers take pride in encouraging individuals who live at the service to develop their daily living skills, such as supporting them to help clean their rooms and helping out in the kitchen to prepare healthy snacks. Helping individuals who may need assistance with personal care and bathing.
  • There’s always lots to do, especially in the large activity room where the focus is on fun and inclusion. Activities include arts and crafts, music and dance classes, gardening, music workshops, drama classes and much more. Individuals can enjoy the cinema, bowling, swimming and the gym in the nearby town of Corby and try new hobbies and experiences such as horse riding. They are also encouraged to attend work placements or volunteer at local charity shops and attend courses at the local college as they gain more independence.
  • Flexible working hours / shift patterns.
  • Planning rota’s and liaising with the service manager to create care plans for individuals

  • Houry Rate for Team Leader: £10.55 to £10.85 per hour.

  • About You/Skills & Experience Required:
  • To join us, you’ll need to have plenty of experience working with those with learning disabilities or complex behaviours
  • An NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care is desirable, as is a good knowledge of relevant H&S regulations
  • You’ll certainly have strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident, flexible and efficient, you’re happy to work on a shift basis, and, where required, to be on call
